Holiday Spirit
It is hard to get completely engulfed in the spirit of any holiday without proper symbolism that goes with it. For example, it’s not actually Christmas without that wonderful glow from the twinkling lights around the tree. People that are in the process of getting a US Green Card or applying for their US Visas in the winter often forget to do things like a putting up a tree because looking to become a citizen of this country or obtaining a Green Card Renewal often consume most of their thoughts and thy tend to forget that there is a balance in life that helps make things stable.
Often folks get so carried away in the “important” things in life that they forget to remember the little parts of the seasons that make things special. As a direct result they often overlook the simplest of things. This is things such as the joy that a lone Christmas tree can bring to those around it.
The folks after a US Green Card tend to become so involved in the process that everything else takes a back seat. While this is completely normal it is nothing that can be considered healthy for the individual or his or her family.
While obtaining those US Visas and the subsequent Green Card Renewals are pretty important dates and milestones that everyone should endeavor to stay on track with, it is also important to make sure that the other things in life that are important also stay in the field of view.
If a person loses site of everything except the one task at hand you get tunnel vision and will tend to lose sight of the important things that come with the season. It is no good for someone to focus solely on the task of handling one thing with the exclusion of all else. It is important to take time with the family to help decorate the Christmas tree so that the whole group gets into the holiday spirit.
It is not merely the presents that signify the season that surrounds Christmas. It is note solely the Christmas trees or the smells of baking food and goodies that help to set the stage for a wonderful and memorable holiday season. It is the interaction between the members of your family. You and your family will likely not remember the gifts that were exchanged and even though the food is a large part of the experience. It is doubtful that that will leave a lasting impression. In all likelihood though, the tradition of decorating the tree will stand the test of time as the family grows up and apart.
So even if you are taking the time to work on a Green Card Renewal or obtaining your US Green Card or US Visas, be sure to take time out to smell the Christmas trees and remember that there is a larger reason for the season beyond the shopping, the food and the exchanging of gifts.
